Laura Werlin
Author
Laura Werlin is one of America’s foremost authorities on cheese, having been honored with a prestigious James Beard Foundation award for her book, The All American Cheese and Wine Book, and a nomination for another of her books, Laura Werlin’s Cheese Essentials. She is a sought-after corporate, festival, and virtual event speaker and is often tapped by wineries to present cheese and wine pairings to consumers and trade alike. Because of her ability to entertain and at the same time educate – “edu-tain,” as she calls it – Werlin’s cheese seminars are among the most popular at prestigious events such as the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta, and, of course, California’s Artisan Cheese Festival.
Since writing her first book called The New American Cheese, Laura has written five more books about cheese. She is now at work on her seventh, which is set to be released in September 2027.
Laura’s expertise has led to many local and national television appearances including the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family, Oprah.com, CNN, QVC, and the Martha Stewart Show. Prior to writing about cheese, her career was in local television news.
When she isn’t eating, buying, serving, or teaching about cheese, Laura can be found at a farmer’s market, jogging on the streets of San Francisco where she lives, or hiking in the mountains, which she loves.
