The tour starts at the country’s oldest cheese company, Marin French Cheese Co. celebrating 160 years on their 700-acre ranch in West Marin. Start your morning with the historic Petite Breakfast cheese along with an assortment of decadent soft-ripened tastes while hearing about the rich history, cheesemaking techniques and beautiful grounds of a California legacy.
Enjoy a relaxing 30-minute scenic drive back to Petaluma to visit Achadinha Cheese Company, a family farm and creamery located in the lush Petaluma hills. The Pacheco family, Jim, Donna, and their four children, milk cows and craft cheese inspired by their Portuguese heritage and Old World traditions. During your visit, you will tour the farm, meet the animals, learn about their dairy practices, and sample their unique farmstead cheeses. A boxed lunch featuring local cheeses will be provided.
Next up is Barber Lee Spirits, a distillery specializing in unique and hard-to-make spirits. They prioritize tradition and sustainability by using non-GMO and organic ingredients, as well as shunning computers in favor of meticulous, hands-on distillation methods.
Conclude your day at Sonoma Portworks, the only winery in Sonoma County specializing in ports and after-dinner wines. This artisan winery produces award-winning products. Your visit will begin with a white or rose port greeting, followed by a tour of the cellar/production area where you will learn about their port making processes, view the production equipment, sample cheeses paired with their ports, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
